Festive Vegan Tea Ring (Vegan Swedish Tea Ring)

Ingredients

• 1/2 tablespoon ground flax + 1½ tbsp water
• 1/2 cup almond milk
• 3/8 cup maple syrup 6 tbsp
• 1 pinch salt
• 3 tablespoons vegan butter
• 2 1/4 cups spelt flour unbleached all purpose
• 1/2 tablespoon instant yeast
• 2 tablespoons brown sugar
• 1/2 teaspoon spice chai, or cinnamon
• 1/3 cup dried fruit chopped, and nuts*
• 1/2 tablespoon mixed peel
• 1/2 tablespoon vegan butter
• cherries glazed, for decorating
• almond milk for brushing the tea ring
• 1/4 cup icing sugar
• 1/2 tablespoon almond milk
• 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1/4 teaspoon almond extract optional
