The Perfect Combination of Sweetness and Moisture
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup semolina flour
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup yogurt
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a 9x9 inch baking dish by greasing it with butter or lining it with parchment paper.
2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add in the yogurt, vanilla extract, and lemon juice, and mix until well combined.
3. In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour, semolina flour, baking powder, and salt.
4. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and mix until a soft dough forms.
5. Press the dough evenly into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the chopped walnuts on top, pressing them slightly into the dough.
6. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
7. While the cake is baking, prepare the syrup by combining 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10 minutes.
8. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes.
9. Pour the syrup over the cake, making sure to cover it evenly.
10. Let the cake absorb the syrup for at least 30 minutes before serving.
