The Perfect Turkey Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 whole turkey (12-14 pounds)
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons fresh sage, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 1 apple, quartered
  • 1 carrot, chopped
  • 1 cup chicken broth

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, olive oil, thyme, rosemary, sage, garlic, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  3. Remove the giblets and neck from the turkey and pat it dry with paper towels.
  4. Place the turkey in a roasting pan and gently loosen the skin from the breast meat.
  5. Spread the herb butter mixture evenly under the skin, rubbing it onto the breast meat.
  6. Stuff the cavity of the turkey with the lemon, onion, apple, and carrot.
  7. Tie the legs together with kitchen twine.
  8. Pour the chicken broth into the roasting pan and cover the turkey loosely with foil.
