Instructions
Start by soaking the basmati rice in water for about 20 minutes. Drain the water and set it aside.
In a large pot, heat the ghee or oil over medium heat. Add in the cinnamon stick, cloves, cardamom pods, bay leaf, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, fennel seeds, and black peppercorns. Let them sizzle for about a minute until fragrant.
