Instructions

To make the crust:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar.
  2. Add in the cubed butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Slowly add in the ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together.
  4. Form the dough into a ball and wrap in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

To make the filling:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. On a floured surface, roll out the dough into a large circle, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Place the dough into a 9-inch pie dish, trimming any excess dough from the edges.
  4. Add the cooled filling into the pie crust.
  5. Roll out the remaining dough and place on top of the filling. Crimp the edges to seal.
  6. Make a few small slits in the top of the pie to allow steam to escape.
  7. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  8. Let the pie cool for 10 minutes before serving.
