Ingredients:
1 cup of basmati rice
2 cups of water
2 tablespoons of oil
1 teaspoon of mustard seeds
1 teaspoon of chana dal (split Bengal gram)
1 teaspoon of urad dal (split black gram)
2 dried red chillies
8-10 curry leaves
1/4 teaspoon of asafoetida
1/4 cup of roasted peanuts
Juice of 1 lemon
Salt to taste
Instructions:
Wash the rice thoroughly and soak it for 30 minutes.
In a pot, add 2 cups of water and the soaked rice. Cover and cook until the rice is fluffy and cooked.
Once the rice is cooked, spread it on a plate and let it cool down.
In a pan, heat 2 tablespoons of oil and add mustard seeds. When they start to splutter, add chana dal, urad dal, dried red chillies, and curry leaves. Sauté until the dals turn golden brown.
