Ingredients:

Meatballs

- 1 pound ground beef - 1 pound Italian sausage - 1/2 cup breadcrumbs - 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese - 1 egg - 1 teaspoon salt - 1 teaspoon black pepper - 1 teaspoon garlic powder - 1 teaspoon onion powder - 1/4 cup chopped parsley

Sauce

- 1 tablespoon olive oil - 1 onion, diced - 3 cloves garlic, minced - 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes - 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste - 1 teaspoon dried oregano - 1 teaspoon dried basil - 1 teaspoon salt - 1 teaspoon black pepper

Sub

- 4 sub rolls - 8 slices provolone cheese - 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese - 1/4 cup chopped parsley

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Meatballs

In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, Italian sausage, breadcrumbs, parmesan cheese, egg, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley until well combined. Roll into 1-inch sized balls and set aside.

2. Make the Sauce

  • 1 package italian sausage 5 links/19.5 oz. hot or sweet turkey
  • 1 onion chopped into small dice
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic or less if you're not that fond of garlic
  • 1 cup macaroni use Dreamfields Macaroni or whole wheat macaroni for South Beach diet
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil chopped, or 2 T chopped frozen basil
  • grated Parmesan cheese freshly, for serving, optional
