1 pound crab, cleaned and cut into pieces
1 tablespoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
For the masala:
2 tablespoons oil
1 teaspoon mustard seeds
1 teaspoon cumin seeds
1 onion , finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 inch ginger, grated
1 tomato , finely chopped
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1/2 teaspoon garam masala powder
1/2 cup water
Salt to taste
Cilantro leaves for garnish
Instructions:
In a large bowl, mix together the crab pieces, red chili powder, turmeric powder, salt, and lemon juice. Let it marinate for 30 minutes.
In a pan, heat oil over medium heat and add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
Add the chopped onion, garlic, and grated ginger to the pan and sauté until the onion turns translucent.
Add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft and mushy.
Add red chili powder, coriander powder, and garam masala powder to the pan and mix well.
Add the marinated crab pieces to the pan and mix well with the masala.
Add 1/2 cup of water and salt to taste. Cover the pan and let it cook for 10-15 minutes, or until the crab is fully cooked.
Garnish with cilantro leaves and serve hot with rice or naan.
