Slow Cooked Pineapple Brown Sugar Glazed Ham
Main Ingredients: Ham, Pineapple Preserves, Light Brown Sugar, Apple
Ingredients:
1.5kg boneless leg of ham
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
Once you have gathered all your ingredients, it's time to begin preparing your Australian Christmas ham. The key to a perfectly cooked ham is the glaze, and ours is sure to impress. In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, cloves, allspice, cinnamon, and ginger. This will create a sweet and tangy glaze that will complement the salty flavors of the ham.
Next, preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius and line a baking tray with foil. Place the boneless leg of ham on the tray and score the top in a crisscross pattern with a sharp knife. This will help the glaze penetrate the ham and create a beautiful presentation.
Using a pastry brush, generously brush the glaze over the entire ham, making sure to get into all the nooks and crannies. Reserve some of the glaze for basting during cooking. Cover the ham with foil and place it in the oven for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes, remove the foil and baste the ham with the remaining glaze. Return it to the oven for another 30 minutes, basting every 10 minutes. This will create a sticky and caramelized crust on the outside of the ham.
Once the ham is cooked, remove it from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving and serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute, creating a tender and juicy ham.
This Australian Christmas ham is sure to be a hit at your festive gathering. Serve it with your favorite sides and enjoy the mouthwatering flavors of this traditional dish.
