Insanely Delicious Turtle Cookies

Ingredients

• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 1/3 cup cocoa powder
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 8 tablespoons butter softened
• 2/3 cup sugar
• 1 large eggs separated, plus 1 additional egg white
• 1 egg whites
• 2 tablespoons milk
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
• 1 1/4 cups pecans finely chopped
• 14 candy soft caramel, I used Kraft Traditional Caramels
• 3 tablespoons heavy cream
• 2 ounces semisweet chocolate I used 2 squares of Baker's Semi-Sweet Baking Chocolate Squares
• 1 teaspoon shortening
